The First Book to Address the Real Cause of Heartburn
WATERTOWN, Massachusetts (PRWEB) August 22, 2012
Norm Robillard, Ph.D., the Founder of Digestive Health Institute has recently published his second book, Fast Tract Digestion Heartburn based on his novel idea that small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) causes acid reflux. The book provides scientific and clinical evidence that limiting 5 difficult-to- digestive carbohydrates can control virtually all of the symptoms of acid reflux. The clinical study conducted in the Boston area tested the unique Fast Tract Diet System as an alternative to Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) and Histamine-blockers (H2 blockers) and the results were remarkable.
To address a complex medical condition such as acid reflux, we need to understand what the underlying cause is, first. said Dr. Robillard. There is a lot of confusing advice out there for managing heartburn, for instance avoiding tomato sauce, fatty, or fried foods and wine, etc. Ultimately people give up on diet and end up taking PPIs and H2 blockers that eliminate most of the acid in their stomach. Unfortunately, acid reducing drugs dont address the underlying cause of heartburn yet are associated with serious side effects and health risks.
Dr. Robillard is a microbiologist, author and researcher who worked for major pharmaceutical companies for 20 years before founding The Digestive Health Institute. He wrote his first book, Heartburn Cured based on treating his own chronic heartburn by limiting carbohydrates. Through publishing the first book, Dr. Robillard became acquainted with Drs. Michael and Mary Dan Eades, the authors of the New York Times Best Seller, Protein Power. Dr. Michael Eades agreed with his theory on the cause of acid reflux and asked an important question, Which carbohydrates are the biggest problem and most difficult to digest?
Fast Tract Digestion Heartburn addresses this important question and explains the rationale behind limiting these specific carbohydrates to treat acid reflux. The book also provides a mathematical formula based on the Glycemic Index that automatically rates symptom potential of foods. The heartburn potential of hundreds of foods is listed in tables in the appendix of the book.
The Fast Tract Diet System is a clinically tested, science based, real foods solution that can be easily implemented. Dr. Robillard is often asked by his readers, why dont doctors know about this? The simple answer, according to Dr. Robillard, is that doctors practice medicine and are generally not involved in researching the cause of the conditions they treat. As a microbiologist and researcher, I have always followed the advice of George Scangos, fellow microbiologist and CEO of Biogen who said that you cant treat a disease properly if you dont understand the cause.
